Split payment lets a customer pay using more than one method in a single transaction, for example part cash and part card.
Step-by-Step
- Add items to the cart and tap Charge.
- Optionally apply a discount.
- The default is one Cash line. Enter the cash amount.
- Tap "Split Payment" (dashed button at the bottom of the payment section) to add another line.
- Change the method on the new row to Card and enter the card amount.
- Repeat to add more lines if needed.
The live tally shows:
- Total paid: sum of all amounts (turns green when it covers the total)
- Still owed: remaining outstanding (amber, disappears when covered)
- Change due: shown in green when the customer over-tenders in cash
Confirm Payment becomes active once Still owed = 0.
Example: $120 total, $100 cash + $20 card
| Line | Method | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cash | $100.00 |
| 2 | Card | $20.00 |
Total paid: $120.00 · Still owed: $0.00 → Confirm Payment active.
On the Receipt
Each payment line is printed:
Cash $100.00
Card $20.00Change due is only shown when cash overage exists.

FAQ
Q: Can I add more than two payment lines?
A: Yes. Tap Split Payment as many times as needed.
Q: What if I add a line but leave the amount blank?
A: Validation will flag it. Every line must have an amount greater than zero.
Q: Can I remove a payment line?
A: Yes. When more than one line is present, an ✕ button appears on each row. The last line cannot be removed.
Q: Can a card payment give cash change?
A: No. If a card line exceeds the total, the payment is blocked. Only cash overpayment produces change.
Q: Can a Cashier do a split payment?
A: Yes. Split payment has no role restriction.
Q: What if the customer over-tenders in cash on a split payment?
A: Change due is calculated across all lines. If cash is $130 and card is $20 on a $140 sale, change due is $10.
Q: Do old sales in Sales History show differently after split payment was introduced?
A: No. Older single-payment sales continue to display exactly as before. Only sales recorded using split payment show the SPLIT badge and multi-line payment breakdown.
