Appearance
Sell by Weight, Volume, or Length
When you tap a product that is sold by weight, volume, or length (e.g. rice by kg, oil by litre, rope by metre), a quantity entry screen appears automatically.
How It Works
Example: rice by kilogram:
- Tap "Basmati Rice" (or scan its barcode)
- The screen shows: Basmati Rice - Rs. 320.00 / kg
- Read your scale and type the weight: 0.750
- Press Enter: done. Cart shows: 0.750 kg × Rs. 320.00/kg = Rs. 240.00
Example: cooking oil by millilitre:
- Tap "Cooking Oil"
- Type: 750
- Press Enter: cart shows: 750 mL × rate = total
Quick-Entry Buttons
For common amounts, tap a quick-entry button:
- Decimal units (kg, L, m): 0.25 / 0.50 / 0.75 / 1.0 / 2.0
- Whole-number units (g, mL, cm): 100 / 250 / 500 / 750 / 1000
After tapping a quick button, you can still edit the value before confirming.
Changing the Quantity After Adding
Tap the quantity shown in the cart (e.g., "0.750 kg") to reopen the entry screen. Type the new value and press Enter.
Barcode Scanner
Scanning a non-EACH product opens the quantity entry screen automatically. Type and press Enter. No mouse needed.
INFO
For products to appear as weighted items at the POS, an Admin must first set the Unit of Measure when creating or editing the product. See Units of Measure.
FAQ
Q: Do I need to do anything different to sell products by weight?
A: No. Once an admin sets a product's unit (e.g., Kilogram), the POS automatically shows the quantity entry screen when you add that product.
Q: Can I sell both weighted and regular items in the same transaction?
A: Yes. Your cart can mix regular (each) items and any weighted/measured items.
Q: The quick buttons don't show the amount I need.
A: Type any value directly in the input field. Quick buttons are shortcuts only.
Q: Can I hold a sale that has weighted items?
A: Yes. Quantities are saved exactly as entered and restored when you resume the held sale.
